I keep waking up at 7 a.m. and I hate it. My body is still adjusted to the 3 hour time difference California and New York. While I could be using this to my advantage and unpack, jog, or simply indulge in the day, I am trying to catch up on all the sleep I lost this semester. This morning was different though, let me tell you why.
I woke up and the first thing I saw was the vision board I made last summer. It's pinned to the wall under a poster of HWS and it lays next to a collection of lanyards and those cute little polaroid pictures that are everywhere. After inspecting the board I said, "Oh wow." I realized that I met all my goals. Some of the details on the board include: a "Greetings from London" postcard, a picture of Ariana Grande, two internship titles one being PR the other digital marketing, the Hollywood sign, and the words "Appreciate yourself" in the middle. I made this board over a year ago a few days after I came home from HWS. Here I was, a year later realizing I met all my goals! I got see Ariana Grande again in concert in Buffalo, NY. I got accepted into study abroad in Norwich, England. I landed not 1 but 2 internships! One being a PR internship the second working with digital media. The second internship is in Hollywood. I cannot believe that without knowing I did it. I write this because I want to share with you how monumental this is and the goals I have for myself next. I always say this, and I'll say it again. Going from being 20 minutes away from Hollywood to being 2000 miles away sucks. Being at a school that no one has ever heard of, let alone that is confused for Hogwarts, sucks. Unless you want to major in economics, happen to be caucasian, and have family in the industry then you're set. But if you are William Samayoyo than the future doesn't seem too bright. Yet, I took advantage of every opportunity I had this semester and I even forged some possibilities for myself. Whether it was going to NYC, writing a script, pitching my own article ideas, I made myself do things I had not done before. I gained skills that I never imagined myself possessing a year ago. I even told some friends I wanted to drop my media major because I did not know how to make or analyze video or film. But here I am. #StayHumble This summer I want to not only cement these skills, but gain a whole new arsenal of insights and talents for my dream of working in entertainment development. These are the goals I am making for myself:
